Kwangbok Jack Lee is a Korean photographer based in London who specialises in Fashion Photography. I wanted to reflect this in an approachable way without losing any of the luxury side of the business. I found a bowtie to be the perfect icon to reflect this and made a set of four different patterns. These were sent to be printed to Moo.com as Luxe Business Cards at 600gsm with a black streak in the sides of the cards to give the luxurious feeling and texture of a high fashion brand.

Identity and Exhibition design for City-bound collective. City-bound is a cross-disciplinary collective of writers, academics, curators and practising artists. With particular interest in the problems and possibilities of cities, we produce and occupy interstices between realities and fictions; between the practices of communities and individuals, and the spaces created for them. Simultaneously acknowledging our fascination and frustration with everyday urban space, our work aims to reveal how cities both create and restrict social and spatial potentialities.

These are the layouts for my end of year portfolios. In order to show my work in the best way possible, I took on the concept of them being pages in a magazine. The idea was inspired by the various design magazines I’ve been reading over the years. They were later on, printed out in one booklet to which you can have a look below:

This was an investigative project about acronyms and number of different meanings they can have for different people. The project came about during a conversation I was having with a friend. I mentioned AA (referring to Alcoholics Anonymous) to her and she thought I was referring to AA (Architectural Association) which generated much confusion and entertainment at the same time. Inspired by the conversation, I decided to design posters about it. The other meanings of AA came from the answers other people gave when asked what they thought AA stood for. The final posters were all A3 screen-printed posters. </description>

The AVA (Architecture and Visual Arts) School building in the University of East London brings together all the creative arts in the university. Here, in one place, students from different art and design groups can view each other’s work and exchange ideas. The only problem that prevented an easy flow of creative ideas was the lack of signage and navigation in the building. A new visitor would have difficulties finding different areas of the building, and hence the building would fail to serve its purpose. In order to solve this problem, we used colour coding system and lines on the floor to help viewers access different areas of the building.

Unfortunately, the idea was too ambitious for the given budget. This meant that the time and effort spent on the research were not rewarded with a final product but we managed to introduce new ideas and adjust them to the given budget in the end.

Chosen to take part in a group of designers to set up a 1-week exhibition for Ecole Régionale des Beaux-Arts de Valence, France. Personally designed and directed the video footage, sound and animation for the main projection.

The brief was inspired by William Harben’s Short story: In the year Then Thousand. It was based on the idea of a hypothetical future, where normal communication methods such as books and spoken words become non-existent, as a communication is achieved via telepathy. We came up with various ideas as to what the last book on earth should look like. At the end, it was decided that the book should contain illustrations with various texts. It would contain poems from present days, describing different stages and emotions we go through in the everyday life. Hence, we read through many different poems and selected 9 poems which we put together with matching illustrations. The book was then assigned with a colour in order to make specific videos recognizable to a camera which triggers it to play those specific videos.

Below is a link to a demonstration video of the experience you will undergo as you flip through pages of the book. The projection detects a page on the book, which then plays a related video showing the content of that particular page. This is achieved, by a small camera which is rendered invisible on the lamp above. This camera detects the colour on each page and triggers to the related video onto the projector. The room originally used as a classroom had to be de-constructed to complete and enhance the overall experience of reading the book.
